Basket Case

So I promised you another basket quilt and I will deliver!

Several years ago I made this quilt that is called Cake Stand.  I wanted it to be bright and cheerful and it is.  Another name for this block is Basket and yet another name is Fruit Basket.  Most quilt blocks have multiple names so while my intent was not to make a basket quilt, that is what I ended up with by another name.

I have also been making progress on the scrap quilt for Jeff.  Again, using scraps of time, I have the rows “webbed” together.  I had hoped to sew some of the rows yesterday, but that was before the feathers escaped – that’s a story for another day! I have yet to decide if there will be a border.  What do you think?

We will have a houseful here for Easter and I need to give that some thought, too.  There will be lots of little bodies running amok in the house.  I bought the DVD of “Tangled for their viewing pleasure.  Hopefully it will keep their attention for a bit.  I haven’t seen it yet either, but my kitchen duties will probably keep me away from the TV.

So what are your plans for this weekend?  Hope they include family, friends and fun as well as the opportunity to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord.  Have a blessed Easter.

Until next time.

Lois

I never think of you making quite such bright quilts! Very nice. Your basket conversation got me thinking and now I have a good start on my own little basket quilt. It won't be much bigger than 22 by 26 but so far I am pleased. I need to get further along with the appliqued handles and then I will post a picture. Easter will be here with Dad. Toralf is promising to grill a turkey outside though I'm pretty sure we will be eating in. It has been snowing off and on all day :(
Enjoy your family -- Happy Easter!

I have decided that I do not like borders on quilts anymore. Does Jeff's quilt need to be bigger? If not, don't border, it looks great as it is. Lory and family will be down for Easter supper. I will probably sew the afternoon away as Grandson Jordan will be the cook.

Hi Lois!
Thank you for stopping by the other day and sorry it took me so long to come and visit...but I'm here! And your blog is beautiful! AND your quilts are beautiful!!!!
I have to confess that I haven't been blogging often lately as of the first of the year...I've been soooooo busy with family. I have my fingers in graduations, weddings, and upcoming trips but I'm loving it all and wouldn't trade a thing! So therefore, my only advice to you is blog your heart out when you can. I know it's terrible to return to the same old post over and over (like MINE) but don't ever give up! hahahaha!!!!!
Hopefully when Spring is over and the weather is HOT, I'll be inside playing on the computer again!!! Thank you for your sweet words Lois and I'll be looking forward to visiting with you again soon!!!!
